Operating Principle

The PHS541S-15 uses a single-solenoid, spring-return 5/2 configuration.

When the solenoid is energized, the internal spool shifts and changes the compressed-air flow path between the valve ports. When the solenoid is de-energized, the spring returns the spool to its original position.

This configuration provides two stable operating positions controlled by one electrical solenoid and a mechanical spring return. Parker identifies PHS541S as the single-solenoid version, while PHS541D is the double-solenoid version.

Maintenance & Reliability

The PHS series is designed for industrial pneumatic applications and can operate in a non-lubricated compressed-air environment, meaning additional lubrication is not normally required when the air supply meets the specified conditions.

Parker specifies an expected service life of approximately 20 million operations for the PHS series and provides replacement seal/plunger repair kits for PHS541 valves.

For reliable operation, the compressed-air supply should be properly filtered and maintained within the specified pressure and temperature range.
